RailEdge Movement Planner
RailEdge Movement Planner delivers real-time overviews of network operation from a single, sophisticated string-line display, giving the information an operator need to make optimal decisions. With RailEdge Movement Planner, trains are monitored in both signaled and non-signaled territories using global positioning systems, track-circuits, automatic equipment identification readers and time-based tracking. RailEdge monitors and controls all kinds of wayside devices. Built-in traffic management applications, such as train sheets, restrictions, blocks, automatic train regulation and route setting, give the ability to effectively schedule trains and swiftly respond to unexpected events.

Trip Optimizer
GE Transportation's Trip Optimizer automatically controls a locomotive's throttle, helping keep trains on schedule while minimizing fuel use. This makes the process of delivering locomotive freight more fuel-efficient and less costly.

Trip Optimizer creates an optimal trip profile that can minimize braking by automatically learning a train's characteristics. The system calculates the most efficient way of running by considering such factors as train length, weight, grade, track conditions, weather and locomotive performance.

During the trip, a sophisticated network of on-board computers and GPS systems update the profile continuously, adjusting for changes so the train can arrive on time - and with minimum fuel use.

For each locomotive on which it is used, Trip Optimizer can reduce fuel consumption an incremental 32,000 gallons, cut greenhouse gas emissions by 365 tons, cut NOx emissions by 5 tons, and decrease particulate matter emissions by 0.2 tons.

Incremental Train Control System (ITCS)
Greater capacity... now arriving daily

Using existing signals or creating its own virtual signals, ITCS from GE-Transportation wirelessly communicates train movement authority as though the territory were operating under centralized traffic control.

A full-featured, vital system, ITCS can increase maximum velocity of all trains on the network, both passenger and freight. With its precise management and shortened blocks, ITCS can effectively double line capacity over traditional control systems. Safety improves through onboard display and enforcement of all speed limits on a given territory.

The cost to install ITCS in new or dark territory can be significantly lower than installing full wayside signaling. Life cycle costs are lower, too, with reduced maintenance expenses and greater system flexibility compared to conventional wayside signaling.

ITCS offers proven performance in daily revenue service since 2001 on the high-speed U.S. corridor between Detroit and Chicago.
